Our Yoga & Hiking retreats take place near the sea in the charming town of Altea, an hour from Alicante airport ~ see transfer details below. Altea lies on the Mediterranean sea, close to stunning mountains and with a beautiful ‘old town’ with a warren of cobbled streets and white washed houses, alfresco restaurants and little boutiques to explore during your free time.
This is the Costa Blanca region known for its Moorish influence, quiet mountain villages, amazing scenery, exceptional beaches and an abundance of underground springs that give life to lush Mediterranean fruits & vegetables.
You’ll stay at a 300 year old Olive farm that’s been in the hands of the same Spanish family since the very beginning. The farm has been renovated into a traditional country house hotel with 20 spacious double rooms each with their own ensuite bathroom with complimentary toiletries, hairdryer & fresh towels, hot/cold air-conditioning, mini-bar, TV, safety deposit, telephone, WiFi and a daily maid service.
There’s a pool in the garden, a small gym & sauna (ideal to ease your muscles post hike!), a restaurant and more recently, a light filled yoga studio with awesome views to the mountains. All solo guests are given their own double room for single use .. we don’t ask you to share unless you want to bring a friend to share with.
The hotel has a super location as it sits at the very point where the countryside meets the edge of town and so there are tranquil views over the countryside and yet, we’re an easy 10 minute stroll to the very pretty old town of Altea and 25 mins to the beach. And the lovely hotel owner – Vincenta – brings us fresh eggs from her hens and bakes breakfast cakes for us each day.

Our first hike is a great way to get your bearings. It’s an easy 13k route in the quiet countryside close to the hotel. Passing crops of oranges, lemons, olives, figs and avocados as we follow the River Algar as it meanders to the sea before a short stroll along Altea promenade on our way back to the hotel. A great opportunity to stretch your legs and get to know everyone.
Our second hike is inland in the stunning Costa Blanca mountains. We’ll be heading to the Puig Campana mountain, the second highest peak on our coast at 1408m … some 6ft higher than Ben Nevis! This s a 4.5 – 5 hour hike classed as ‘moderate to challenging in places’ on tracks and rocky trails around the base of the mountain so that we can experience the full 360 degree views. As we’ll be out for the most the day, we’ll take a picnic lunch to be enjoyed alfresco. There’s also a chance to do a 3rd self guided coastal hike using maps provided by us. All walks are of course optional.
The twice daily yoga sessions will complement the hikes with a combination of Hatha yoga to open your body with long held stretches and Vinyasa yoga to warm & energise combined with relaxing & restorative Yin Yoga.
Morning sessions focus on simple flowing vinyasa sequences, synchronising breath with movement so that your practice becomes like a calm flowing meditation. Evening classes are a little slower where we’ll hold postures a little longer using the breath to move deeper within and re-connect with our inner peace. There’ll be a Meditation workshop on Sunday evening too.
Yoga classes are suitable for keen beginners, those with a lapsed practice & intermediate yogis. Our teaching style is precise but relaxed and, as safety is important, expect to hear plenty of alignment cues to keep you on track. There’s no ego involved nor pressure to create the ‘perfect’ yoga postures. We’ve all come to yoga with different bodies and different abilities and so what’s more important is that you pay attention to how the yoga ‘feels’ in your body. It doesn’t matter what other people are doing around you, just work with what you have. Be patient, keep practicing and your body will open up & let you back in. Time to Relax
When you’re not doing yoga or hiking, we have a few other activities you might like to do. There’s a guided bike ride, an Aerial Yoga class, healing Therapies and a Spanish cookery class. Or, just head to the pool & laze in the sunshine or venture into town & wander Altea’s little streets.
We like our retreats to be super relaxed & so if you want to skip a yoga class or miss a hike, please do. We just want you to listen to your body & do what your soul asks.

To help you slowly awaken before morning yoga, there are fresh fruits & herbal teas to be enjoyed in the garden. Then, after yoga, help yourself to the buffet breakfast of fruits, wholesome cereals, eggs, yogurts, local tomato dish, a selection of Spanish cheeses & cold cuts, fresh orange juice, assorted breads & pastries, preserves and homemade breakfast cakes. Gluten free & dairy free options are always available.
Suppers are 3 course delicious plant based meals using locally sourced produce. We dine at the hotel on all but two evenings when your taste buds are free to explore local restaurants. On one of these free eves we’ll organise a meal at a local restaurant which you are most welcome to join if you like.

Yoga & Hiking Retreat programme overview
Begin each day with a cup of herbal tea & fruit whilst you slowly awaken. At 8.30am it’s time to open body & senses to the day with a 90 minute yoga session. Ready now for some nourishment from the buffet table with seasonal fruits, wholesome cereals, egg dishes, yogurts, locally grown tomatoes, Spanish cheeses & cold cuts, freshly squeezed orange juice, assorted breads & pastries, preerves and homemade breakfast cakes.
Then, depending on the day, you could be :
Heading out on a guided 13k ‘coast & country’ hike
Setting off for the mountains for a guided hike with a picnic lunch
Striding out with maps on a self guided coastal hike to the neighbouring town
Taking part in the optional Guided bike ride or Aerial yoga workshop
Joining Chef Juan in his kitchen for a Spanish cookery workshop
Enjoying some pampering with our therapy team – massages, facials, reflexology, reiki & more
Or, simply relax by the pool, curl up with a book, use the sauna or gym.
Late afternoon we regroup for another yoga session to unwind from the day before supper. There is no yoga on Sunday morning as we set off early(ish!) after breakfast for the mountain hike. On return to the hotel there’s time to rest before the meditation workshop.

Our private airport transfer service
Operates from/to Alicante airport. Pick up on arrival will be between 11am-13.00 & arrive at airport on final day for midday. Transfers take an hour & cost €40 per person each way. Check your flight options to Alicante here.
Please ensure your flight arrives no later than 12.15 on arrival day & departs no earlier than 13.30 on departure day to allow time to clear customs & collect your luggage.
Flights outside of our transfer service we are happy to book a private taxi for you or book you on a resort ‘hopper’ shuttle bus service from/to the airport.
